What we do
Five proposed programmes. Each one starts with a conversation and an assessment, and each has limits we want you to know before you ask for help.
Housing support and essential improvements
What it aims to do
- Assess a household’s accommodation.
- Mobilise support for essential repairs that improve safety and basic living conditions.
- Help households with relevant housing referrals.
What it does not promise
- We are not a builder of new houses. Larger building projects need suitable land, professional input, approvals and confirmed funding first.
- Repairs depend on the support we can mobilise. An assessment is not a promise of repairs.
Education and youth skills
What it aims to do
- Connect families with early learning and educational support.
- Seek partnerships for career guidance, help with applications, practical training and supervised work experience.
What it does not promise
- We do not offer accredited training ourselves. Accredited training will be delivered through appropriately accredited providers.
- Training places and work experience depend on partnerships we are still seeking. We cannot promise a place or a job.
Household information and referrals
What it aims to do
- Help residents understand the housing and social support channels that apply to them.
- Help organise documents.
- Follow up on referrals, with your consent.
- Refer complex matters to the responsible public office or a specialist.
What it does not promise
- Assistance does not guarantee approval. Decisions on applications are made by the office responsible, not by us.
Livelihood and small enterprise support
What it aims to do
- Explore business training, mentoring and enterprise support.
- Help participants understand basic costing, record keeping and access to markets.
What it does not promise
- This programme is still being explored.
- Any cooperative initiative will follow an assessment of participants’ commitment and of whether the business can work.
Environmental care
What it aims to do
- Organise suitable community cleanups and awareness activities.
- Encourage responsible use of materials.
- In any development project, consider drainage, maintenance, service connections and safe waste disposal.
What it does not promise
- Cleanups will be organised where they are suitable.
Who these programmes are for
- Low-income households facing unsafe housing or inadequate basic services.
- Children and young people who need educational support, skills and pathways to work.
- Caregivers and families struggling to meet essential needs.
- Older people and people with disabilities facing barriers to assistance.
Beneficiary targets will be set once each project’s scope and funding are confirmed.
