If your organisation would like to partner with us
Public departments, community structures, training providers, employers, businesses and donors are welcome to start a conversation. No partnership is claimed on this site.
We are new, and we say so
Ukuthula Community Development began as a community initiative in March 2026 and was incorporated as a Non-Profit Company on 5 October 2026.
Our programmes are proposed. Programmes, partnerships and delivery targets will be confirmed as resources become available. Until then, this site sets out what we aim to do and the rules we will hold ourselves to.
Needs that sit in the same household
Unsafe accommodation, limited household income, barriers to education and difficulty getting support can all affect the same family. We aim to work with residents and suitable partners to respond to these needs together, not one at a time.
Conditions differ between villages and households. So every project will begin with local consultation and a needs assessment.
What we plan to do
Housing support and essential improvements
Assess homes and mobilise support for essential repairs that make them safer.
Education and youth skills
Connect families with early learning, and young people with training and work experience.
Household information and referrals
Help residents understand support channels, organise documents and follow up referrals.
Livelihood and small enterprise support
Explore business training and mentoring, and help with costing and record keeping.
Environmental care
Organise community cleanups and awareness, and encourage responsible use of materials.
Three steps for every project
Assess and agree priorities
Consult residents and local stakeholders, and confirm each household’s needs before committing help.
Plan and deliver
Agree the scope, budget and responsibilities, and explain the agreed scope to the people it serves.
Monitor and learn
Keep records, invite feedback, compare results with targets and improve the next project.
Nkomazi in the 2022 census
Census 2022, historical municipal statistics — not our beneficiary counts
- 31% of Nkomazi residents were under 15
- 4.1% were aged 65 or older
- 44% of children aged 0 to 5 attended an early childhood development centre
- 2.9% of households had no toilet facility
These figures are part of why we put weight on children, caregivers and education, and on basic living conditions for vulnerable households.
