How we work

Every project follows the same steps, and every household is assessed the same way. This page sets out how.

Three steps for every project

  1. Assess and agree priorities

We will consult residents and local stakeholders and write down their concerns. Projects are chosen by how urgent they are, how much good they can do, and whether they can be done. Before we commit any help, we confirm what each household actually needs.

  2. Plan and deliver

For each funded project we will set out the scope, the budget, who is responsible for what, and the results we expect. We will get the professional assessments and approvals the work needs, confirm what each partner will do, and explain the agreed scope to the people it serves.

  3. Monitor and learn

We will keep records of the help given and the money spent. We will ask the people we serve for their feedback, and track results such as completed improvements, training participation and referrals. We will compare what happened with what we set out to do, and use what we find to improve the next project.

How we will choose who we help

When more people need help than we can reach, we will assess each household on the same six things:

Income
How much money the household has coming in.
Living conditions
How safe the home is, and whether it has basic services.
Urgency
How soon help is needed.
Disability-related barriers
Whether disability makes it harder to get help.
Dependants
How many people depend on the household.
Existing support
What help the household already gets.

Selection will be open and respectful. You can ask us how a decision was made.

Your personal information

To assess a household, we may need to ask about income, living conditions, disability and dependants. That is personal, and some of it is sensitive. We will handle it carefully.

  • We will only follow up a referral with your consent.
  • We will only share your details with a public office or specialist when you agree to a referral.

Our privacy notice explains this in full.
